Behzad Haji Kandi (also known as Hakan Kaya), born in 1978 in Tehran, is an internationally recognized photographer, filmmaker, and equestrian media professional with more than two decades of professional experience in the fields of sports photography, documentary filmmaking, and equestrian media coverage.
Coming from a family with over five generations of equestrian background, Haji Kandi has been deeply connected to the world of horses since childhood. Alongside his expertise in showjumping—where he has competed successfully and obtained his official riding instructor license from the Ministry of Sports & Youth of Iran—he has played key roles as Head of the Dressage Committee in Tehran, event organizer, and collaborator with the Equestrian Federation of Iran in both national and international competitions.
Since 2005, he has been officially assigned by the Federation as a photographer, videographer, and documentary filmmaker, accompanying the National Team in numerous international competitions (CSI-W, FEI events, Arabian Horse Shows, and more). His works, distinguished by a unique blend of technical accuracy and artistic perspective, have been widely recognized and published across reputable media platforms.
Beyond equestrian sports, Haji Kandi has an extensive artistic portfolio as a documentary filmmaker and video artist, with projects in collaboration with UNDP, environmental NGOs, and international brands. His photographic and cinematic works not only document but also narrate, offering deep visual storytelling that connects culture, environment, and sport.
